With its pyramid-style roof and stepped-down verandah the Queenslander's appearance is distinctive and almost iconic. It was ideally suited to the local conditions with French doors opening out onto a verandah that wrapped around all four sides of the building. Walls are vertical VJ boards with a horizontal chair rail. Windows are all double-hung sashes. A kitchen was often accommodated in the rear corner of the verandah.
