Christopher Hagen Hexavase | Honeyed
Raised by a biologist and a journalist in the forested stretch of northern Wisconsin, Christopher Hagen received a Bachelor of Fine Art in Digital Art & Photography from the University of Minnesota Duluth, and has a Master of Fine Arts from Illinois State University.
These pieces were crafted as a collection, focusing on a correlation of pollinator decline and agricultural collapse. The stoneware multiples offer a walk through an exaggerated honeycomb. Aesthetically diverse honeycomb-cell and bowl-proportioned forms give way to unfired and degrading fragments in this illustration that empty hives will lead to empty bowls.
Available singularly as examples of exceptional craftsmanship these pieces can be used as vases and small vessels or simply appreciated as the art forms that they are.
